Do I need to be registered with the DVLA?

If you are not registered with the DVLA as a Registered Number Plate Supplier when you apply for a trade account, we will make the application on your behalf. This is a requirement before we can manufacture and ship your orders.

Must I see the customers documents before placing an order?

Yes, if the order is for a UK vehicle registration, you must see the customer's documents prior to placing the order for the number plates. Plates which do not meet a UK registration are exempt from this requirement, such as name plates for children, decorative plates for truck drivers and foreign number plates.

The DVLA requires Registered Number Plate Suppliers to record the details from the customer documents and hold them on file for 3 years.

How fast is the turnaround when I place the order?

Our teams will typically manufacture and dispatch the order the same day you place it, or within 24 hours, excluding Sundays. Delivery will then be the following day, if the customer chose Tracked 24 delivery, or two days if they chose Tracked 48.

Can you send the plates direct to the customer?

Yes - you have the choice of either sending the order direct to your customer's address, or to your own address if you want to offer fitting or a collection service for the customer.

Can you print our legal text at the bottom, instead of the Utopia Plates text?

Yes - we will print your legal text (company name and postcode) in the font and size of your liking.

Can you produce number plates with adjusted spacing?

No - Utopia Plates is held to a very high standard, which means we only produce fully road legal number plates. If you place an order which is deemed to be illegal, we will contact you to resolve this issue, and may cancel the order if an agreement is not met regarding producing them to the legal standard.

What happens if the plates arrive damaged or incorrect?

Contact our support team with information regarding the order and photographs of the fault(s), and we will endeavour to have this resolved for you as quickly as possible. 

Is there a warranty offered on the number plates?

Yes - just as with our B2C number plates, we offer a 12 month warranty on manufacturing defects that may present themselves. Contact our support team should you need assistance with this.

How can I market the plates to my customers?

We offer a physical retail display board which has examples of all 5 number plate letter styles, and photographs of the different shapes of plates available. We highly recommend ordering this to display in your store or showroom, as it gives the customer a chance to see the plates up close.

How should I price the number plates we offer?

A full pricing sheet with the RRP of each product will be provided when you join our B2B service. We highly recommend sticking to the RRP when selling the products, for the optimal balance of profit and customer satisfaction. Our pricing structure has been methodically tested for 4 years.

We do printed number plates in house already, is this an issue?

Not at all - feel free to manufacture the printed number plates yourself and maximise the profit. We offer the printed number plates for those who don't have the facility to print in house.

If you dispatch the plates direct to the customer, is there any evidence it didn't come from ourselves?

We won't include any marketing material showing the number plates came from ourselves, and we can put your return address on the shipping labels. If you want to go even further than this, contact us regarding getting your logo printed on the sticky labels used to seal the packages.
